Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

ETRM Connect (“ETRM Connect”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a global community and talent network for energy trading and risk management professionals, operated by ETRM Talent (Arthur Lawrence).

This policy covers the website at etrmconnect.com. Job listings shown on our Jobs page are sourced from third-party services (such as LinkedIn); selecting a role opens that third-party site, which is governed by its own privacy policy.

2. Personal data we collect

  • Information you give us — when you submit the “Join Now” form: your first and last name, email address, job title, LinkedIn URL, and phone number.
  • Anti-spam data — when you submit the form, our anti-spam provider processes your IP address and a one-time challenge token to confirm you are human.
  • Analytics data — only if you accept analytics cookies: your IP address, browser and device information, the pages you view, and how you use the site.
  • Server logs — our hosting and security provider records standard request data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and protect the site.

3. How we use your data

  • To respond to your enquiry and contact you about ETRM Connect membership.
  • To understand how the site is used and to improve it (analytics — with your consent only).
  • To keep the site secure and to prevent spam and abuse.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

  • Essential — a first-party preference that remembers your cookie choice (etrm-consent).
  • Analytics (optional) — set by our analytics provider only after you click “Accept” on our cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set.

You can change your choice at any time using the “Cookie Preferences” link in the footer, or through your browser settings.

5. Who we share data with

We share limited data only with service providers who help us operate the site, and only for the purposes described above:

  • an email, hosting, and security provider (to deliver your form submission and serve the site),
  • an anti-spam provider (to screen form submissions),
  • an analytics provider (only with your consent).

These providers process data on our behalf. We may also disclose data where required by law. (Specific provider names are available to the client on request; we describe them by category so this policy stays accurate if we change providers.)

6. Global Privacy Control (GPC)

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out and do not load analytics — even if you had previously accepted cookies.

7. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the rights below. To exercise any of them, email community@etrmconnect.com.

  • Texas residents (TDPSA): to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of your personal data; to opt out of targeted advertising, sale, and certain profiling; and to appeal a decision.
  • California residents (CCPA/CPRA): to know, access, delete, and correct your data; to opt out of “sale” or “sharing”; and non-discrimination for exercising your rights.
  • EU/UK residents (GDPR): to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection; and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

We respond to verifiable requests within the time required by applicable law (for the TDPSA, within 45 days).

8. Data retention

We keep form submissions for as long as needed to respond to your enquiry and for our legitimate business records, then delete or anonymise them. Analytics data is retained per our analytics provider’s default retention period.

9. Security

The site is served over HTTPS, and we apply industry-standard measures to protect personal data. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.

10. Children

The site is intended for professionals and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

11. International visitors

We are based in the United States. If you access the site from outside the US, your personal data may be processed in the US and other countries.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the latest version.
